International Standards for Optical Amplifiers
IEC TR 61292-4:2023 which is a Technical Report, applies to all commercially available optical amplifiers (OAs), including optical fibre amplifiers (OFAs) using active fibres as well as Raman amplifiers. The technical content of IEC publications is kept under constant review by the IEC. It applies to OAs using optically pumped fibres (OFAs based on either rare-earth doped fibres or on the Raman effect). Abstract International standardization activities for Optical Amplifiers at IECTC86 and ITU-T SG15 are reviewed.
